7260AC random disconnects - limited connectivity displayed - no other wireless networks visible

we have roughly 600 devices installed around the world on multiple networks, the devices have 7260AC wireless nic installed. (7260HMW).  the devices all run WES 7 32bit, Windows managed wireless using the 18.20.0.9 driver.  2-3 weeks ago we started experiencing random wireless disconnections occurring on multiple devices.  All of them reporting "limited" in the connection status.  looking at the available SSID's the only one shown was the SSID that had the manually configured profile.  Rebooting the device restores connectivity and the ability to see other available ssid's.  when this occurs there are multiple system events in the 500x range for netwinsx32. This is occurring on multiple "flavors" of wireless networks - It is not network configuration or appliance specific. all power saving settings are either set to "maximum performance" or disabled. We have upgraded the driver on 2 affected devices to 18.33 version, this had no affect on the issue.  can you provide any assistance with this issue.

8265 wifi disappearing

Hi,

I have the gigabyte GC-WB867D-I (rev. 4.3) (intel AC 8265). With the recent windows edition update 1803 this wifi adaptor has been losing connectivity, mostly when I connect to a multiplayer game. The adaptor disappears from the device manager list and the wifi tab setting disappears from the windows network and internet settings. I have tried resetting windows and doing a clean install of the most up to date drivers (20.60.0) and the ones on the gigabyte website (20.30.1). Can anyone help with this problem? Thanks

AC 7260 Wireless Card Fails with Windows 10 2017 Fall Creator's Update (KB4054517)

$

0

I am having issues where my wireless card fails, often into an irrecoverable state.  I am using an AC 7260 card in a Lenovo Y50-70, running Windows 10.  I have tracked the issue to a specific Windows update and have found a viable short-term workaround.  My intent is to post the information here, both for others to benefit from, and for Intel to be made aware of the issue, as this will require a driver fix in the long term.

SYMPTOMS

My symptoms are pretty much identical to other similarly-reported issues with previous updates.  An excellent example can be found here:  AC7260 crashes sporadically since Windows 10 Anniversary update

A brief summary:

-Network connectivity would sporadically fail.  Sometimes, it would recover on its own after a moment.

-When the network card could not recover, it would hang in a "stalled" state.  At this point, the wireless claims to be connected, but without internet connectivity.

-In the stalled state, no more networks are visible (even though many are usually accessible and still functioning with my other devices).

-In the stalled state, attempting to access the AC7260 from the Device Manager would often fail, leaving to a non-responsive window.

-In the stalled state, powering down or rebooting would fail - the computer would initiate the process, but would simply freeze on a blanks screen before completing the shutdown or reboot procedure.  A forced manual power down would be necessary.

-After a forced manual powerdown, the wireless card would function normally again, until failing later - usually within 24 hours, sometimes within 10 minutes.

When these symptoms present themselves, there would be similar corresponding Events in the Windows Event Log, identical to those reported in this thread:  Windows 10 Creators Update 7260 AC WIFI Dropping

Example event text:

-EXAMPLE EVENT ONE

"The description for Event ID 5032 from source NETwNb64 cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

\Device\NDMP2

Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260

The specified resource type cannot be found in the image file"

-EXAMPLE EVENT TWO

"WLAN AutoConfig detected limited connectivity, attempting automatic recovery.

Recovery Type: 4

Error Code: 0x0

Trigger Reason: 12

IP Family: 4"

-EXAMPLE EVENT THREE
"The network interface "Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260" has begun resetting.  There will be a momentary disruption in network connectivity while the hardware resets. Reason: The network driver requested that it be reset. This network interface has reset 1 time(s) since it was last initialized."

Investigation Steps

I have been dealing with this issue for a few months now.  Combing through my system's event logs, I found the above events began occurring on Dec 13, 2017.  This corresponds to the date of a Windows Update installed on my computer, "Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4054517)".  I believe this is the 2017 Fall Creator's Update.  Unlike other Windows Updates, this one CANNOT be uninstalled or removed.

My BIOS is up to date.

I tested multiple drivers to see if the issue could be resolved.  My default AC7260 driver is 18.12.0.3 (7/16/2015).  This driver did not work.

The latest driver provided by Intel is 18.33.11.2 (10/31/2017).  This driver did not work.

The latest driver provided by Lenovo is 18.12.0.3 (7/27/2016).  This driver did not work.

There is a Microsoft driver, 17.15.0.5 (2/22/2015).  This driver DOES work.

I also tried installing the Intel PROSet wireless software package (latest version 20.30.1).  This package (and the accompanying driver, 18.12.0.3) did not work.

Short Term Solution

As stated above, the driver from 2/22/2015 (version 17.15.0.5) works without issues, for several weeks now.  I also have to manually prevent Windows Update from automatically updating drivers - otherwise, the only working driver I have will be replaced with a later, broken version.  This should work for others in the same situation as myself.

Long Term Solution

In the long-term, Intel will need to release a new version of their drivers which is compatible with Windows Update KB4054517.  I have functional internet in the short-term - however, that's with a set of drivers that is now three years out of date, which is not an acceptable long-term solution.  My hope is that the information provided here will allow them to perform their own investigation so that such a fix can be developed and released.

I would appreciate it if a rep from Intel could reply to this and confirm that their software developers have been informed of this issue, provided with the above information, and are now working on a fix.

Help!! - Intel Platform ME Firmware Update slows down WIFI to a Crawl?

I have been struggling with the puzzling WIFI download speed for more than 6 months.

Problems:  WIFI Download speed drop from 120Mbps to 0.3Mbps in 20 minutes after Restart.  It keeps on doing the same thing. I have to restart the PC after about 20 minutes of use, and repeat this often during the day.

I have updated all the Windows 10, 64 bit updates, including all the drivers.  It is now running Windows 10 Build 10.0.17134.   My WIFI is  Cox Business Internet. Surfboard 6183 Cable Modem, Netgear R7000, AC1900 .  I finally gave up on Netgear and bought a new Motorola MR1900.  The download speed was 120 Mbps and remained stable after 24 hours, and 3 days.  Then I followed HP alert and ran Intel Platform ME Firmware Update: sp87520.exe 11.8.50.3470, Softpaq Number SP87520, 4/24/2018.

After I ran the Intel Platform FIrmware Update, my WIFI speed dropped from 120 Mbps down to 3 Mbps after 20 minutes.  And it did go down to 0.5 Mbps once.  I have to restart my PC often, in order to regain the 120 Mbps.  It feels like someone is hi-jacking my PC in the background, causing the WIFI to slow down to a crawl.  So Can the Intel Firmware Update be the cause for all these slow WIFI problem?  Replacing Netgear with Motorlora works only for a few days. All the good gains were destroyed by the Intel Firmware Update?  Is the security update of Intel Firmware cause the melt-down in WIFI download speed?

Or is this from something else?  Please help!!

Traffic lag issue on Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 and registry changes

On Lenovo T460/470 Windows 10 laptop, ping or throughput latency problem is sometimes observed.

Its network adapter Intel dual band wireless ac 8260 (with latest drivers 20.10.xx).

I got to know by googling that the lag issue is due to frequent WiFi scan behavior of Intel Wireless drivers and it can be resolved by setting the following registries and setting 'Roaming Aggressiveness' to 'lowest'.

"ScanDisableOnLowTraffic"=dword:0000001F

"ScanDisableOnMediumTraffic"=dword:0000001F

"ScanDisableOnHighOrMulticast"=dword:0000001F

"ScanDisableOnLowLatencyOrQos"=dword:0000001F

Changing 'Roaming Aggressiveness' to 'lowest' and changing values of the four registries make WiFi Scan disabled completely, then it leads to resolve lag problem.

Does anyone explain about the four registries?

And, is there any plan for Intel to update Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC driver to make WiFi-scan configurable?

Thanks in advance.

Intel 8265 40Mhz Channel Width

Hi guys,

I hope you can help me understand the behavior of the 8265 wireless card.

Recently I was testing my wireless configuration. The previous config was only using 20MHz per AP. I wanted to change the channel width to 40MHz on my 11ac. On my WLC I set my AP to 40MHz. The AP summary seemed to be correct since the APs showed channel bonding. The frequency showed on my Acrylic WiFi Home seemed to be correct too, the AP bonds 2 channels.

I tested the 40MHz channel width with 3 laptops, 1 Thinkpad T480S and 2 Thinkpad T470S. Both T480S and T470S are using Intel 8265, with T470S running on 20.10.0.6 and T480S running on 20.10.2.2. Only 1 T470S is able to 'read' the 40MHz, while the other 2 still 'read' the 20MHz. I know this by speed indicated on WiFi Status. Any idea why? All settings are the same. The only setting I could think of to impact this is Fat Channel Intolerance, which is I already disabled.

Thank you.

Your support documentation outright lies

Dear Intel,

Your wireless adapters are essentially inescapable and yet, despite rather reasonable hardware, are utterly useless for any application requiring a stable latency. And the worst part is that it's not even a crippling hardware defect, nor is it some impossible to solve issue tied to core functionality. It literally comes from you disabling a previously available feature, and it's driving me nuts. So I'm really just venting. I don't expect anyone to care, nor do I expect anything to change. You have had years to listen to the community and make the simple change. But no. You're Intel, and you're big and mighty, and you just can't be bothered.
What am I talking about? I'm talking about your wireless card's insistence on roaming for a stronger wireless access point, no matter what 'Roaming Aggressiveness' setting you select. Mind you, this completely contradicts your own documentation, which states that it "doesn't roam" except in cases of "significant link quality degradation". (Wi-Fi Roaming Aggressiveness ) Well apparently -32dBm is considered 'significant link quality degradation', because it still bloody roams every 10 minutes on the dot. And god forbid I move into the next room with -40dBm. That's extra significant degradation, so roaming every minute is appropriate. And it's not like it's a minor disruption. It's 2-3 seconds of effectively dropped packets to the router, as the latency spikes from 1ms to 120+.
But you know what the real icing on the cake is for me? YOU TOOK AWAY THE ABILITY TO ACTUALLY TURN IT OFF!!! See, you used to be able to do a regedit and actually disable roaming. See, I've had the unique displeasure of having to deal with your 3160, 7260, 7265, 8260 and now, the 9260. And you have actually made the problem worse. The ScanWhenAssociated setting used to actually exist in the registry. You just went in, set it to 0, and off you went to the races with excellent connection quality. Then with driver updates and some irritated users on your forums, you quietly removed the registry value. Luckily, you could still manually add it. Bam! Like magic, the seemingly worthless dumpster fire of a wireless adapter went from being worse than a USB dongle adapter, to an actually reasonable and usable device. And so it was, all the way up through driver version 17.15.05. Then came driver version 18, and you just had to disable it didn't you? Just couldn't stand your devices actually behaving the way users wanted them to, and the way your documentation claims they do. Nooooo, that's just not the way of important modern companies. You needed to take a perfectly working 7260 and turn it back into a worthless trash heap. Luckily, I had a back-up of the good old driver, and happily restored my card to working condition. But fast-forward a couple of years, the newer generations of cards don't run on the older drivers, and you still haven't re-enabled the ability to turn off the stupid roaming.
And so, here I am, ranting. Why? Because I felt like it, and because I wanted to be sure you knew exactly why I will never recommend your adapters to anyone and strongly advise they go with a solution from Broadcom, D-Link, or even Realtek any time they can.

Have a pleasant whatever-time-of-day-it-is. Call me when you re-enable the ability to turn off roaming.

i've put it on my new build but the card is not seeit by the sistem in any way

i've install the newest driver from intel for win 10 64, also i've tried with suggested driver by hommie, wich was a slightly older version.

the pci card is like isn't on the sistem at all. but the green led on it is on.

Any suggestion? Probably a damaged one?

Dear Support Team,

I've just bought a new laptop and my Wireless connection is unstable.  When I use the wireless network more intensive (youtube or download files) I get an error 5007 - TX/CMD timeout (TfdQueue hanged)  and then for 10-15 sec. the connection very unstable.

I installed the latest driver for the wireless card,  Windows 10 up to date and my wireless router working well with lots of other devices including AC.

Could you help me, please?

Intel PROSet wireless software; 802.1x associating issues; Intel Wireless Troubleshooter/Manual Diagnostic Tool do nothing

Very strange behaviour..

Intel PROSet.. seemingly overnight..

a. Just stopped being to associate 802.1x/Enterprise based wireless networks.  Personal sec (PSK) is fine.  But 802.1x/enterprise networks it can't associate to.

I can default to Microsoft Windows utility and it connects fine.

b. To make matters worse in the PROSet utility, Tools -> Intel Wireless Troubleshooter and Tools -> Manual Diagnostic Tool do nothing. I can select them from the Tools menu and it does nothing.

Infact, the Intel Wireless Troubleshooter, when selected, says 'Operation Command Successfully' .. but eventuates nothing ?

So I can't even see what output/error i'm seeing why it can't connect...

Do I need to clean out PROset ? I've already done this.. with a basic uninstall..purge all profiles, etc.

Maybe a cleanup tool exists ?

[Bug] Bluetooth AC-3165 sound stutters nonstop when I rewind a video on a website.

Hello,

I have an Inspiron i5577 with AC-3165 w/BT. For a long time now, sometimes when I rewind a video on Firefox or Chrome, on any website, with a fresh Windows 10 installation, the video and audio becomes choppy. Imagine looking at a video that only plays 1 Frame Per Second. It plays for quarter of a second, stops, plays again, stops, etc. Once the stutter begins, every sound played through other sources such as local MP3 or Windows notification sound also stutter.

If I rewind videos on a local MP4 file it never starts stuttering. It never starts stuttering with wired earphones. The stutter is always initiated when changing a video playback position on the browser. The more frequently I change the position, the more likely it stutters. Sometimes it stutters only for a second after rewinding but continues to play. When this initial one-time stutter happens, it always starts stuttering permanently after subsequent rewinding. Rewind once - it stutters once but plays fine. Rewind again - it stutters forever.

I have tested it with two BT headsets manufactured by different companies, as well as on two web browsers. The problem is with the Bluetooth adapter or drivers.

I have followed Mr. Carlos A.'s advice to reinstall WiFi and BT adapters but that hasn't solved it-3165 Bluetooth cuts of minus of a second that affects all devices connected. Dell Inspiron 7000 17" on W10. I've done… (tried Dell's WiFi/BT drivers too).

To temporarily fix the problem I disable and re-enable the BT adapter. The BT headphone automatically pairs and it plays fine after the reset. Sometimes the stutter happens multiple times in 10 minutes, sometimes once an hour. It makes media consumption through BT highly unpleasant.

I've attached Intel System utility log to this thread with a hope that someone can help troubleshoot it. I'm willing to go through technical steps. Thanks in advance!

EDIT:  Here is a more detailed look at the problem. Open a YouTube video and play. Click on a rewind bar to skip ahead. Do it again. It starts stuttering. Click on Windows 10 notification button (bottom-right corner of taskbar) and from the action panel click on the Bluetooth card twice to disable and re-enable. Once the Bluetooth is disabled, what surprises me is that the video automatically stops. If I try to rewind the video while BT is being reset, it won't play. The video starts playing automatically on its own once the BT finishes resetting and pairs the BT headset. As soon as its automatically paired the video resumes with a proper sound.

Intel dual band wireless-ac 3160 problems using bluetooth

Intel dual band wireless-ac 3160 was installed on the ASUS k56cm laptop. The laptop uses windows 10 x64 (1803). The work of wi-fi in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands is stable.

There are problems using bluetooth. After sometimes a lengthy search, pairing and connecting bluetooth devices occurs.

If the distance is more than 0.5 meters, the connection is unstable. The wireless mouse brakes. The sound in the wireless headphones (different manufacturers) is interrupted and disappears. Sometimes delays in obtaining data via a wi-fi channel are sometimes noticeable. A message stating that the devices are connected is displayed next.

Intel® Wireless Bluetooth® and Intel® PROSet / Wireless WiFi were used to troubleshoot the problem.

Updating drivers does not solve the problem. Using older drivers also does not help.

I ask to help in solving the problem.@
