Slow download speed on AC 8265
Hello,
I've bought a new laptop (with Intel Wireless AC 8265) since last week and I experienced some issue on the internet connection of the laptop. Sometimes when the laptop connected to the internet, the entire network became suddenly slow for a period of time. And when I opened some programs, especially games (Overwatch, GTA V (online)), the entire network is significantly slow and with increasing ping and finally disconnected from the game server. But immediately when I closed the game, everything seems fine again. Moreover, the download speed of the laptop is considerably slower than my phone (also with 802.11ac dual band), but the upload speed are the same or even faster on my laptop. But watching even 4K video on Youtube didn't affect like those aforementioned games, even if it should affect more.
I followed a lot of threads in Intel community and also other communities (e.g. Microsoft) and saw a lot of workarounds but none of them worked for my case. The following are my attempts on this,
- Disabled RSC on the adapter (already undone because I believe that Windows released the patch for that and my laptop is already updated)
- Changed MTU from 1500 to 1400
- Changed in the advanced setting of network
-- Switch between VHT and HT mode but no difference
-- Lower roaming aggressiveness
-- Enabled/Disabled U-APSD support
-- Uninstalled Intel PROSet driver and installed from Lenovo website (my laptop is Lenovo E470)
I also attached the log from Intel SSU.
Note: my previous 4-year-old laptop was able to run those games very well without internet problem
Best regards
BSOD on wake in Netwtw06.sys after driver update
After updating my Wifi driver to 20.0.2.3 (2-3 weeks ago), I've twice gotten a blue screen crash on resume from sleep. As this driver version is the first to include the KRACK vulnerability fix, it is not reasonable to roll back to an older version. An inspection of the last memory dump reveals the following:
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (50)
Invalid system memory was referenced. This cannot be protected by try-except.
Typically the address is just plain bad or it is pointing at freed memory.
Arguments:
Arg1: ffff8009f4c00000, memory referenced.
Arg2: 0000000000000002, value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation.
Arg3: fffff80032d896af, If non-zero, the instruction address which referenced the bad memory
address.

When will we get the WiFi and BT5 drivers of AC 9260 ?
Hello Intel,
We just got Intel Wireless-AC 9260 from ITP, the genuine part, not engineering sample. But we can't find any former drivers of AC 9260. The WiFi_20.0.2_PROSet64_Win10.exe just fits AC 9260 for Win 10, but the BT_20.0.0_64_Win10.exe can't fit AC 9260. We hope Intel will upload the former drivers of Wireless-AC 9260 soon.
Thank you a lot.
Problem: Intel Dual Band Wireless AC8265 not working with active external monitor on notebook
Hi!
I have a ASUS Zenbook Pro UX550V with Windows 10 Pro. It has an Intel Dual Band Wireless AC8265.
The Zenbook has the possibility to connect an extrenal monitor via a HDMI plug.
When I connect and activate an external monitor (either duplicated or extended or single desktop) the internet access via WIFI is not working anymore. The WIFI signals that a good and strong internet connection exists but internet browsers (different broweser) or email clients cannot acces the internet.
In the windows event viewer there is a flood of System Errors: "Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265: Has determined that the network adapter is not functioning properly. (Source: Netwtw06, Event Id: 5002)"
As soon as I decativate the external monitor the system errors stops and I can access the internet.
I made sure that I installed all Windows 10 updates as well as all driver updates.
How to solve the problem?
Thanks.
Intel 8260 support of 802.11k - issue
Hi,
I have been working on the implementation of 802.11k (along with 802.11v and 802.11r) in a Cisco wireless infrastructure. Our fleet is mainly Dell Latitude with intel wireless chipset 8260.
Running few tests and some packet captures, it seems that the Intel implementation of 802.11k is quite inefficient.
If the wireless clients do support 802.11k standard, trigger 802.11k reports from the WiFi infrastructure, it is done in a way that is inefficient and doesn't trigger a useful 802.11k report from the infrastructure.
The big gap missed out by the intel driver seems to reside in the 802.11k "neighbor report request" and the non specification of the SSID the client is on.
The consequence of this miss out is the WiFi Access Point replying an 802.11k "neighbor report response" of ANY nearby antennas on ANY SSID. Result being the very same Access Point (where the client is already on) sending a neighbor report of its other SSID (having the best signals). Hence making this feature (802.11k) completely useless.
A small improvement in the Intel driver (adding the specification of the SSID the neighbor report should report to) should make this 802.11k standard functional and add a big quality to the wireless driver.
I am happy to provide more details (packet captures...) or any help if required.
Infrastructure:
Dell Latitude using Intel Dual Band Wireless -AC 8260 (v19.50.0.11)
HP EliteBook using Intel Dual Band Wireless -AC 8260 (19.71.0.4)
Cisco Controller WLC 5500

Intel Wireless-AC 8265 - Aux antenna with problem?
I know intel is tired of answering the same questions but I do not know I'm in a different situation.
I purchased an Intel Wireless-AC 8265 NGFF Card,
and when I put an Antenna in the MAIN, I get Wireless 2.4ghz / 5.ghz signal.
If I put the AUX antenna, it does not increase the signal at all.
If I take out the MAIN antenna, and leave only the AUX connected, I have no Wifi signal.
How this works? My card are with AUX Connector broken? Its a new card.
I already swap antennas and nothing.
Intel 8260 multicast-rx performance
Hello,
I see Intel 8260 wi-fi card's multicast-rx performance to be very bad.
Multicast-Tx seems to be ok because multicast-rx with non-Intel wi-fi card works fine.
Is this is something of a design decision or what ?
I am trying to stream a 128Kb/s, 48KHz, Stereo MP3 using VLC and running Win 10 Creator's Update.
Any info/help would be very helpful & truly appreciated.
Thanks & Regards,
Rajagopal
Intel Dual Band Wireless AC-7265 drops my wifi connection unless VHT mode is turned off
I recently got a HP Envy laptop that came with the AC-7265 wireless adapter. Let me just say I have exchanged my laptop 4 different times and they all exhibit the same issue, so this is definitely not an isolated hardware issue. Laptop is running Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit (version 1703).
==========================================================================================================
Laptop is currently running the latest driver version from Windows.
4/12/2017
19.51.1.1
Two issues I have encountered with this driver (version 19.51.1.1).
1) During heavy wireless traffic, such as having multiple tabs of YouTube videos playing at the same time, the network driver would crash and the following errors logged in event viewer:
Error 6/18/2017 10:51:53 PM Netwtw04 5007 None
Error 6/18/2017 10:51:53 PM Netwtw04 5007 None
Error 6/17/2017 9:32:24 PM Netwtw04 5007 None
Error 6/17/2017 9:32:24 PM Netwtw04 5007 None
Error 6/11/2017 9:24:30 PM Netwtw04 5007 None
The details of the errors are as follow:
5007 - TX/CMD timeout (TfdQueue hanged)
When that occurs, every single device on my network would drop off for about 30 seconds. That issue goes away when I disable WMM on my router (but that causes other performance issue so I need it enabled).
2) The second issue is it would cause my laptop to completely freeze up every other day, and requires a forced shutdown by holding down the power button. Here are the event logs when that occurs.
Critical 6/18/2017 9:20:30 PM Kernel-Power 41 (63)
Critical 6/16/2017 12:21:03 PM Kernel-Power 41 (63)
Critical 6/15/2017 12:12:48 AM Kernel-Power 41 (63)
Critical 6/14/2017 9:09:19 PM Kernel-Power 41 (63)
Critical 6/11/2017 5:35:06 PM Kernel-Power 41 (63)
The only workaround for the above issues is to changed HT Mode from "VHT Mode" to "HT Mode". But that also limits my connection speed to 300Mbps (instead of the 866Mbps I can have with VHT Mode).
=================================================================================================================
So the next thing I did was downgrade the driver version back to the original version that came with the laptop:
7/14/2016
19.1.0.4
With this version, the 1st issue goes away (dropping my network during heavy traffic) but the 2nd issue remains (lockup issues). Again, if I change the HT Mode from "VHT Mode" to "HT Mode", the issue goes away.
=================================================================================================================
I have spent a lot of time testing the different versions of drivers under different scenarios to arrive to the above findings. Something definitely changed between version 19.1.0.4 and 19.51.1.1 that cause the wireless adapter to crash under heavy traffic and cause the 5007 - TX/CMD timeout error. And the VHT Mode, when enabled, causes my laptop to freeze in both versions mentioned above. The workaround for both versions is to downgrade to HT Mode, which is something I don't want to do as it lowers my connection speed.
As I mentioned in the beginning, I have already exchanged the laptop 4 times at Best Buy and the same issue remained, so it's definitely not a hardware issue, but a driver issue.
Low download speeds w/ Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265
Hi:
I am having issues with the WiFi performance on a Lenovo X1 (5th Gen). For a while it has shown bad download speeds. I am basically comparing it to an HP EliteBook 8440p with the same software (Windows 10), obviously connected to the same network, on Chrome, and via Speedtest.net. The EliteBook 8440p (6-8 year old computer) blows the new X1 out of the water. It has double the throughput in download and upload speeds. The performance is 20 mbps upload and download for X1 vs. 45 mbps for EliteBook.
I was thinking there might be some background process taking up some network capability, but there is none. And, it would have to be a HUGE network consumption to account for such a difference. I tried updating the WiFi driver and that seemed to help a little (up to 30 mbps at times), but still lacking.
When using the same network but on a 5 GHz channel, speeds are normal (same to HP laptop). Also, when the laptop is very close to the router (Apple Extreme), speeds are as expected (equal to HP Laptop).
Any suggestion is very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Intel AC 8265 Desktop WiFi - DOA or Driver Issue?
In short, my card is not showing up in the drivers list in Windows Device Manager and it does not show up as a hidden device either. It is encased in an adapter that connects to the motherboard's PCIe x1 slot, along with a wire connecting to the USB hub for Bluetooth. It is correctly seated, but the only thing I see is a indicator light on the adapter saying it is supposedly getting power. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest Intel drivers. I'm just wondering if I am missing something or I need to DOA this chip? It's a brand new chip and I was using a wireless Intel Centrino before, I just really wanted the upgrade! I had that Centrino sitting around until I found this AC 8265.
System Specs (home build):

Let me know if there is more information needed please.
Intel Dual Band 7260 PCi bluetooth connection issue
I have a Intel Dual Band 7260 PCi - my bluetooth connection to sony nusic center CMT-SX7 is lost evry time sony center goes to standby and I need to reconnect mannually. Previsously I had Atheros PCI card and had no problems with it (sony center always was connected or reconnected automatically) so I assmume the problem is with Intel card / drivers. Please help to solve it.
AC - 8260 - Connectivity Issues
I have a 2 week old laptop with a an 8260 adapter which has caused me nothing but stress from day 1. I suspect this is driver related and hope it will be resolved, but wanted to post here to give some visibility to this as the adapter is still relatively new. I haven't been able to pickup on what causes the issue, at times it seems as though after periods of extended sleep it will happen. I've also noticed it happens more on battery but I've also had it happen while plugged in. The adapter may work fine for several hours, then suddenly starts dropping connectivity even though it has been in the same location all along.
Scenario 1:
- During browsing, my browser will return a DNS error however my wifi connectivity icon shows full bars. Checking the network adapter shows that it has been disabled on its own. Attempting to re-enable it fails as it says enabling then reverts back to disabled. Eventually, after 3-5 minutes connectivity may be restored but it will continue to lose connectivity every 5 minutes or so until I reboot. Once the adapter goes into this "poor reception state", it will drop connectivity regularly until I restart.
Scenario 2:
- Randomly, the WiFi icon will suddenly show an exclamation mark next to the Wifi icon. The adapter also shows disabled and wont re-enable in network settings. In this scenario, wifi does not restore until I reboot the machine.
Some details:
I am using Intel Dual Band AC-8260 adapter running windows 10 on Skylake Architechture.
Using the latest 18.0.33 Drivers
I have tried this workaround, but the behavior still seems to persist again at random times (Power Saving = Maximum Performance).
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/928152
Here are some of the events that I see being logged regularly when the adapter starts misbehaving:
********
WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped.

my wifi card is able to drop and establish connection every 30 secs - unusable !
turning bluetooth off is a workaround here, but hey .. Intel ! I am disappointed ...
I will either downgrade or turn BT off or any other ideas to try ?
other devices at home are completely OK ...
Frame Replay Vulnerability (INTEL-SA-00093) for Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC and Intel® Tri-Band Wireless-AC
We have identified a vulnerability relating to frame replay during device sleep in the Intel® Dual-Band Wireless-AC and Intel® Tri-Band Wireless-AC products. The vulnerability arises from the firmware implementation of the Wi-Fi subsystem. An attacker who can successfully establish a channel-based man-in-the-middle can potentially replay frames to impact the integrity or availability of already transmitted frames. The replayed frames are then passed on to the operating system as new frames. For more details, refer to the security advisory on this vulnerability: INTEL-SA-00093. (https://security-center.intel.com/advisory.aspx?intelid=INTEL-SA-00093&languageid=en-fr)
Updated Wi-Fi Drivers are available for Intel® Dual-Band Wireless-AC and Intel® Tri-Band Wireless-AC products adapters. Be sure to download the latest driver for your Intel® Wireless Adapter.
For legacy Intel Centrino® Wireless Adapters, disabling the Wake-on-Wireless-LAN functionality (WoWLAN) is considered to be a reasonable mitigation against CVE-2017-13080,CVE-2017-13081 and CVE-2017-5729.

Wifi starts fast and then drops
I have an MSI 17 in laptop that has worked fine until this week. All of a sudden my internet has dropped to become ridiculously slow. I know the internet connectivity is not my laptop as I have several other laptops on the network as well as phones, game consoles, etc, and they all work fine. I have an Intel Dual Band Wifi chip which I've tried updating the driver for and completely uninstalling and reinstalling. I've tried getting rid of my wifi profiles. I've resetting WinSock and different network services. Nothing seems to work whatsoever. Here are screen shots of the device dropping in speed:
My other computer (which is less powerful mind you) gets consistently under 20ms when pinging google.
Any help would be appreciated. This is my primary pc . I just felt like I've tried everything at this point.
The specific chip is the Intel Dial Band Wireless AC3165
Wifi device 8265 disconnects
Hello,
I bought my new Yoga 720 a few weeks ago, and I am experiencing some troubles to connect to Wifi, and it is the only way to connect the computer to the network. The connection is random as sometimes, it will be connected at very high rate and working fine (such as now), but other times, there will be no access and Windows will show no wifi networks available. Sometimes, the device is shown as disconnected in the device manager and when restarting it comes back (but still no conection).
I have tried many solutions, such as:
- Run Windows Repair Tool
- Run Restore Network from Windows 10 (which disconnects every network adapter, restart and installs all the adapters again).
- Remove Firewall.
- Disable the RSC and decreasing the MTU speed from 1500 to 1400, and checked that other input in configuration are OK with Intel, Windows and Lenovo configurations
- Download the latest driver from intel (which is more recent 20.0 vs 19.50.1 installed).
- Repeat the previous steps with the new driver.
- Check for other updates: I updated the BIOS with the latest version from Lenovo for this computer.
- Run all the previous steps (changing the drivers type).
Today I have reinstalled Windows again from the beginning, first keeping my files, and secondly without keeping my files, but still having the same problem. I have checked everything I could, from BIOS to Windows and uninstalling every program to avoid any conflict, but still connection is not reliable. Do you know what can be happening, and what could be the solution?
Thank you in advance,
Regards.
After update wireless&bluetooth driver, Bluetooth in win10 missing.
Recently, I update Intel8260ac wireless&bluetooth driver and graphic driver. After that the bluetooth doesn't work. Bluetooth button will not shown in the seetings & device management. Unknow usb device is added in the device manggement.

I have had to use external usb adaptor to connect to my router. My Zotac sitting on the same desk has no problem connecting to a number of WIFI's, i.e., I dont't think it is a signal strength problem.
Bluetooth - Not on my system, or not working?
I have a new (used) computer. The device manager shows Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) 3.0 + High Speed Adapter, but no bluetooth devices are recognized. Intel's scan tool shows Intel(R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN 14.1.1.3, plus Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter 6.1.7600.16385 and Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter #2 6.1.7600.16385. I have used the device successfully on another computer with a dongle.
