Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 - Connection issues

Hi Guys,

I really need your help. I bought the new Aorus X5 Laptop a couple days ago. With it comes a AC8260 as wifi chip. It's not working very well to say the least.

I'm having a lot of connection issue. I'm losing a lot of pings and the ms are high for most of the time. Then the connection get lost again. I can't fix this problem by my own. I already tried a couple solutions for other chips mentioned here or in other forums. At the moment I'm using the driver version 18.32.1.2.

Please let me know what kind of information I need to provide to get this tackled somehow.

Regards

Intel AC 7265 - Intermittent WiFi after Anniversary Update

My wifi connection is intermittent after Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

My Network Adapter is Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265. My machine is a ASUS UX303UB. It crashes in all my wireless network (home, office) when all the others laptops in the network / home are working fine.

I tried to ping to ping my router and some times it generates time out. During all of this, I noticed something in the Event Viewer. Checking Applications and Services Logs\Microsoft\Windows\WLAN-AutoConfig\Operational logs I noticed extremely weird behavior: during the WiFi hiccup/outage, it starts spewing out loops of "Wireless security stopped/started/succeeded." events with respective IDs of 11004/11010/11005.

It looks that is a common problem

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-networking/intermittent-wifi-after-anniversary-update/188f8a…

I tried with the original driver and with the latest driver and I am having the problem with both.

Thanks

Why does Wireless N 7260+BT with Windows 10 Pro x64 degrade internet browser performance?

$

My computer demonstrates several serious bugs in Windows 10 Pro x64  networking performance.  It is one of my  goof around computers that I have reset using recovery tools or system images on multiple occassions when performance degrades.:  The key hardware and software is:

--- Intel Next Unit Of Computing box, Model DC3217BY

--- Intel Core i3-3217U CPU @ 1.80 GHz

--- Intel N-7260 WI-FI / Bluetoothmodule (BT driver

WiFi driver ver  18.33.3.2   (provider Intel, signer Microsoft WHPC)

BT driver ver 19.1621.3340   (provider Intel, signer Microsoft WHCP))

--- Crucial M-SATA SSD drive

---  Corsair 4 GB DDR3 16000 memory (wrong slot)

--- logitech bluetooth K480 keyboard

--- logitech bluetooth M557 mouse

--- bluetooth headset or soundbar

--- Microsoft Windows 10 Pro x64

        Version 1511, build 10586.494

Internet performance, as measured by the Ookla speedtest download metric, ALWAYS degrades when bluetoooth devices are connected and continues to degrade as bluetooth devices are used.  This degradaton seems more rapid when high data rate (e.g. headsets) are used.  Rebooting does not noticably improve performance.  However, when we UNPAIR every bluetooth device and REBOOT the problem is cleared and the computer performs normally until bluetooth devices are connected again.

Initially the downloadspeed test is >40 Mbps (ISP limited).  I can also rapidly load multiple tabs using EDGE, EXPLORER and CHROME simultaneously as expected and youtube streams great.  Unfortunately, this does not last long after pairing bluetooth devices.  Within a matter of hours and a few dozen websites visited, WINDOWS 10 PRO FAILS BADLY in the following manner.

--- Ookla speedtest drops to about 20 Mbps immediately after first bluetooth device is connected.

--- After a few hours use, the Internet browsers take long time when opening additional tabs or opening first tab in a second browser.  Quite often the tabs do not load at all.

--- Ookla speedtest continues to report less than 2 Mbps in first browser tab opened after reboot.

--- Ookla speedtest either fails to load or gives results well below 1 Mbps when run in browser tab #2 and higher, especially when youtube is first tab.

--- youtube streaming cannot keep up and often fails outright.

--- sometimes, task manager shows 100% disk activity for several minutes and millions of page faults without significant data transfer rates.

--- occasional temporary system freeze upwards of 20 seconds,  some freezes that require short power button for controlled shutdown, some freezes that require long power button for hard off.

--- several different BSOD reasons displayed

I really cannot understand why Internet degrades so badly over such a short time.  It works great initially.  The Internet Troubleshooter does not report any problem no matter how bad the browsers perform.  Windows update says I have all the patches.  Internet search offered procedures to clear DNS and IP stacks, but those did not improve anything.

Hello -

My T430s Lenovo Thinkpad consistently taps out around 94-95 mbps (per speedtest.xfinity.com) while 5 other devices (ipad, android phone, iphone, 10 year old HP DV7 laptop and Lenovo Thinkpad W540) consistently test between 160-175 mbps.

Current driver installed is 15.18.0.1 (4/30/2015), which shows to be the latest available from Intel through website and driver update utility. N mode is enabled. 5.2 is preferred band. Roaming aggressiveness is set to 5 - Highest (have tried all settings, this gives me the best speed). Transmit power is set to 5- Highest. Wireless mode is set to 6 - a/b/g. Obviously not a router issues since my other devices dont have the same problem. The device with an issue and 2 other devices sit in the same room, basically right next to each other. I have also disabled the 2.4 hz band on the router. PC's power settings are set to best performance.

Any ideas??

Thanks in advance!

Sebastian

Dear all,

Dell Latitude E5450 / Windows 10 Enterprise x64 1511 (TH2) with latest updates.

Can anyone point me to some direction when mentioned WIFI card (Wireless-AC 7265) refuses to connect to WIFI networks at first place. Actually it refuses first time. About 60 seconds later it will connect.

Error messages is below:

I have tried different drivers:

Windows 10 itself suggest via "update device drivers" 18.20.0.9 - no luck, error persist

Dell suggest 18.11.0.8 - no luck, error persist

Intel latest 18.30.0.9 - no luck, error persist

Windows 10 bundled 17.15.0.5 - error is gone, and everything is working as excpected.

I have tried different AP's on different physical locations - same effect.

I have tried different WIFI configurations - like OPEN networks in other places - same effect.

My main question is what could be wrong with 18 series of drivers? Why the 17 series works and 18 not ?

Cannot connect to a 32 character ssid using 8260 or 7260

Am using the latest driver on a 8260AC (ver 19.1.0.4).

When trying to connect to a SSID of 30 or 31 characters it seems to connect.  Using a SSID of 32 characters does not.

I have run Wireshark captures using an AirPCAP adapter and have verified that the card is generating probe requests for 30 and 31 characters, but not 32.

I have verified this issue on several laptops in the office.

Another coworker verified the following on the 7260:

"I had the 17.0.5.8 driver from 6/18/2014 and my system was working. I updated to 18.33.3.2 (the latest) and could not connect to the Device. I then moved to the driver 18.21.0.2 from 11/9/2015 which would not work. I also tried 17.16.0.4 from 4/20/2015 which also worked."

Could this be a off by one error in the driver preventing probe requests from going out?

I should also mention that this is a non-broadcast SSID, so am creating a profile with the specified SSID and manually connecting.

Thank you,

Steve

ac8260 Extremely slow speed over wifi on a specific network

Hello,

Here's my issue. My wifi works fine everywhere except at the university. It connects just fine, signal is great and everything seems fine for like a minute, but then it becomes painfully slow. Everyone around me are browsing at decent speed while its unusable for me. I talked to the IT guys at school and they said many people with the same wireless cards are experiencing issues on their network.

I tried:

-changing the drivers, old and new. 18.xx 19.xx

-changing the power options in windows

-changing pretty much all the device settings(roaming agressiveness, prefered band, wireless mode, ht etc)

-InSSider shows that everything is fine

Any ideas? How can I diagnose the problem?

Hi,

My laptop is Dell Audi A5 5520, using wifi card Intel Centrino Wireless N2230.

Recently, I have a project at university and need to capture CSI (Channel State Information) from the wifi card in my laptop.

I searched from the Internet and it has the tool name "Linux 802.11n CSI Tool" to get CSI from Intel card. However, it can only work with Intel wireless card 5300 while my card is N2230. Therefore, I get stuck.

Could anyone please help suggest a possible solution for me to get CSI from my laptop with Intel Centrino Wireless N2230?

Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 constantly loses connection for a split second

Hello!

After searching the internet for 3 days straight, trying atleast 100 different solutions, I'll just open a ticket here and hope, somebody has a clue how to solve this problem.

While I am gaming the adapter, stated above, loses connection for a split second, then reconnects, which is enough to throw me out of the game. It jumps between best signal and no signal, while I am not moving.

My System:

Medion ERAZER Notebook

Windows 10 Home 64 bit

Intel i7 6500U

8GB Ram

What I have tried so far: (Sorry if the words aren't correct, I'm german.)

  • Installing the newest driver
  • reinstalling the driver
  • configuring the adapter settings (HT Mode: VHT / HT / Disabled,  all tested. | Preffer 2,4Ghz, use 20 Mhz, Roaming to low, Transferpower to full...)
  • Turning the Wireless Zero Configuration Service on/off
  • Disabling Bluetooth
  • Resetting the WinSock thing
  • Slamming my head against the wall
  • turning my antivirus off.
  • turning the firewall off.
  • Updating the Chipset drivers
  • Restarting the laptop of course
  • Etc

It is not the fault of the router / modem / w.e. it is in english. As my mobile phone, aswell as the laptop of my girlfriend are connecting without a problem to it.

Thanks!

Until recently, I was able to tell my computer desktop display to "duplicate" on the tv.  In this way I was able to receive e-mailed pictures/download onto the desktop computer, and then display them for my elderly parents on their tv.  After lengthy troubleshooting, I was told that Intel recently discontinued support for their "Intel Wi-Di."  Is this true?  Is there a replacement for this functionality coming soon?

I've tried "casting", but casting doesn't seem to work with a photo from my desktop to the tv.

Help!

Thank you.

KB3161608 + Bluetooth

I need to install KB3161608 as it contains a Windows Update fix - currently I am not able to use Windows Update as it maxes out my CPU.

Unfortunately, as is well documented on these forums, KB3161608 breaks Intel Bluetooth.

Can we expect a fix for the Bluetooth issue to allow KB3161608 to be installed?

ProSet would be a great tool if it had IFTTT capabilities such as disconnecting from wireless if there is a wired connection available.  Another issue is better prioritization of or preferential connection to wireless connections not based on signal strength or intermittent (short) loss of signal.  Maybe someone knows of other tools that can turn off wireless when connected to a wired network, or better prioritize wireless network connections?

I work in an office with a notebook computer. When I go to a meeting in a conference room or next to another person's desk I'm on wireless.  However, when I return to my desk and use a docking station with a wired network and I have to manually turn off the wireless.   I would prefer this to be automatic.

The other issue is that we have multiple wireless networks; trusted (for company assets) and untrusted for guests.  Sometimes the connections to the trusted wireless fail or are weaker than the guest wireless so the notebook computer fails over to the untrusted network and I can't get to the Intranet servers.  ProSet seems to jump to the strongest rather than having some "intelligence" about what's the best wireless.

Thanks.

AC 8260 BSOD at least once a day

Running latest version of the Intel drivers for Windows 10 64bit, 18.40.0.9. (as of Mar 29, 2016). My computer keeps BSOD every few hours, making the system almost unusable and getting very frustrating. I've opened a service support case already #00345567. Even with the older version of the driver, same issue persists. Perhaps anyone here has seen this as well and as a solution?

It seems pretty much everyone with this wireless card has been suffering from frequent disconnects, unstable connections, and slow speeds.  How is there not a solution to this or a recall?
Yes, I've tried changing all the adapter settings to the ones recommended by Intel (2.4 ghz only, 20mhz, roaming aggressiveness low, wmm disabled, etc).
Updated to the latest drivers.  No change.

Any other solution?
